The Rails Under Every Crypto Bet
The numbers underneath crypto gambling — not gambling-specific, but the rails every crypto casino transaction runs on.How Big Is the Crypto Casino Market, Really?
No regulator publishes audited revenue for crypto casinos — most operate offshore. One figure dominates media coverage of this market. It fails basic scrutiny. The widely-repeated $81.4B figure traces to a single undisclosed analysis. It originates with analytics firm Yield Sec and appears in one Financial Times article, with no published methodology, model, or wallet sample to check. Gambling Insider later got Yield Sec’s own team on record confirming the figure bundles crypto sports betting and prediction markets alongside casino — the casino-only component is roughly $48B, not $81.4B, yet nearly every outlet that repeated the number applied it to casinos specifically. The analysis was also sponsored by The Campaign for Fairer Gambling, an anti-gambling advocacy organization. And it fails a sanity check: total global online gambling revenue across every vertical was roughly $103B in 2025 — an $81.4B crypto-casino-only figure would mean crypto represents 79% of all online gambling worldwide, which isn’t supported anywhere else.
Two independent forensic on-chain analyses — following actual wallet activity rather than modeling a top-down estimate — converge in this range. Tanzanite tracked 90+ wallets across 20 casinos on four chains and applied Stake’s own publicly disclosed revenue ratio; Gambling Insider independently aggregated 29 labeled hot wallets across three chains via Dune Analytics.
Deposits are directly observable on-chain and aren’t in dispute the way revenue estimates are. This is money going in, not gross gaming revenue — the two shouldn’t be conflated. Three operators account for 75.5% of this tracked total.

Stake Handles More Than Its Four Closest Rivals Combined
Trailing 12-month tracked deposit volume for the top five operators. Stake alone ($22.1B) outpaces Roobet, Shuffle, BC.Game, and Rainbet’s combined total ($15.76B) — and the top three account for 75.5% of all tracked deposits.| Operator | Trailing Deposit Volume | YoY Change |
|---|---|---|
| Stake.com | $22.1B | +60% |
| Roobet | $9.38B | +181% |
| Shuffle | $2.34B | +41% |
| BC.Game | $2.28B | +7% |
| Rainbet | $1.76B | N/A (new entrant) |

Stake’s actual disclosed financials — a rare data point in this sector. Stake’s parent company, Easygo Group Holdings, is now a public company, which makes its numbers unusually verifiable for crypto gambling: A$970M revenue and A$257M net profit for the fiscal year to June 30, 2025, net assets of A$5.07B, and more than 21 million account holders. Its most recently published gross gaming revenue figure is $4.7B for 2024 — no 2025 GGR has been disclosed by the company.

| Singapore | 24.4% | Leading Southeast Asian market |
| Turkey | 19.3% | Highest in Europe/Central Asia region |

Stablecoins, Not Bitcoin, Dominate Crypto Gambling Payments
The infrastructure data explains a pattern widely reported anecdotally across the industry.First-party platform data from payments processor SOFTSWISS shows altcoins reached roughly 50% of crypto bet volume across full-year 2024, with Bitcoin’s share down 17 percentage points year-over-year and Tether up 7.3 points. SOFTSWISS reports the shift in percentage-point changes rather than absolute totals, and appears to have discontinued the public series after 2024 — so the exact current split isn’t independently verifiable, but the trend is well documented.
Stake’s disclosed 2025 deposits split $8.2B on Tron against $7.0B on Ethereum. Tron’s stablecoin volume is overwhelmingly USDT, which is consistent with the platform-level stablecoin shift above — though it’s a reading of one operator’s chain split, not a published industry-wide stablecoin percentage.

Where Crypto Casinos Are Actually Allowed to Operate
Where crypto casinos are actually licensed to operate, and where they aren’t.| Jurisdiction | Crypto Position | Indicative Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Isle of Man | Regulations expressly permit deposits in virtual assets, governed by license conditions rather than a ban | £36,750/yr license + £5,250 application; duty from 1.5% down to 0.1% of gross gaming yield |
| Curaçao | Permitted, with staged crypto-compliance obligations phasing in through June 2027 | €4,592 application + €47,450/yr (B2C) |
| Anjouan | Explicitly accommodates BTC, ETH, USDT and other stablecoins/altcoins; standard AML only | ~€17,828/yr (~€18,000–30,000 all-in year one); no GGR tax |
| Costa Rica | No dedicated gambling regulator or license — operators run under a data-processing permit | $5,000–15,000 |
| Brazil | Crypto prohibited outright in the regulated betting market | Not applicable |
| Great Britain | Not prohibited but heavily conditioned; UKGC is exploring a licensed crypto-payment route, no committed timeline | Not applicable |
The Isle of Man figures come directly from an offshore law firm’s guide quoting the regulations and are the most reliable in this table. Anjouan and Costa Rica figures come from commercial licensing guides and should be verified against current fee schedules before relying on them. Two jurisdictions often listed as crypto-gambling hubs don’t actually hold up. Malta’s most recent verifiable regulatory sandbox documentation for crypto gambling extends only to the end of 2022. And the UAE’s gaming regulator (GCGRA) has no reference to cryptocurrency or digital assets anywhere in its published licensing pages — its only named licensee is the UAE Lottery.
Frequently Asked Questions
There’s no agreed figure, and the widely-cited $81.4B estimate doesn’t hold up to scrutiny — it traces to a single undisclosed analysis, sponsored by an anti-gambling advocacy group, that was never published with methodology. Two independent on-chain investigations instead put annual gross gaming revenue at $5.7B to $11.4B. Tracked deposit volume, which is directly observable on-chain, stands at $44.7B trailing, up 84% year-over-year — but deposits and revenue are different numbers and shouldn’t be conflated.
No U.S. state currently issues a license permitting real-money online casino gambling funded directly with cryptocurrency. Legal, regulated U.S. online casinos operate on fiat payment rails. Enforcement has picked up — the Illinois Gaming Board issued a cease-and-desist letter in February 2026 explicitly naming crypto and demanding an operator block Illinois residents. Offshore crypto casinos accessible to U.S. players operate under licenses from jurisdictions like Curaçao, outside U.S. state oversight.
No — platform data shows its share falling consistently. SOFTSWISS platform data put altcoins at roughly 50% of crypto bet volume in full-year 2024, with Bitcoin down 17 percentage points year-over-year and Tether up 7.3 points. No source publishes a precise current split, but the direction is well documented and consistent across the operators that disclose data.
Because there’s no regulatory filing requirement forcing disclosure — offshore crypto casinos don’t publish audited revenue. The one number that isn’t in serious dispute is deposit volume, because it’s directly observable on-chain. Revenue estimates require assuming a hold rate on top of that, which is where the figures diverge. Treat any “market size” claim as an estimate, check what metric it’s actually measuring, and be skeptical of any figure with no visible methodology behind it.
